Genocide is fashionable

enough to become an issue for many liberal democrats. This genocide in Sudan has been going on for at least three years (more information). Why is this cause being brought up now? Why only by these people? I'm not belittling this at all. I've just been thinking that with all the attention the "invisible children" have gotten in Uganda, why are not millions flocking to stop the killing of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese in a few short years?
(George Clooney alert!)

Personally, i am frustrated by the fact that issues like the genocide in Sudan and Invisible Children are only brought to light and made a big deal out of when they appear on Oprah. So George Clooney comes on with his secret message about the genocide in Sudan, and he's seen as a saint. and Oprah talks out agains invisible children, and suddenly, b/c Oprah has heard the cry of people in pain, then everyone just says- "oh Oprah, how generous, how caring" and then just seem to think that she'll take care of it. i dunno, maybe i don't have a point at all- but i just don't like the idea that things are only deemed important after being on Oprah. see more: http://www2.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200604/tows_past_20060426.jhtml
